Pampered Sunday

Good morning and good night. It's the last Sunday (and day) of September, and that can only mean one thing: Football.

Sunday night football is in full swing. Week 4 is among us, and although I am part of, not one, but two Fantasy Football Leagues, a girl still need some pampering.

I normally don't do my nails very often, due to my profession (baggage handler at the local airport) but mostly because of laziness. Then I discovered that Sunday night football is the perfect time slot to give a little TLC to my digits.

Tonight in the spirit of Fall, we're going with a deep eggplant color by wet n wild called Disturbia. This is my go to palette for Fall, not too girly but goes with all the wonder autumnal hues that make you wanna grab a cup of cider. To add a little sparkle, I had few little floral nails stickers my girlfriend gave me a few years back.

I feel like I have difficulty with picking the right nail color. Since I work outside with my hands I tend to keep my nails very short. After all, we don't want any broken nails while lugging bags. I also have wide fingernails, so I feel like I need to choose the right color. I would love to do those elaborate designs but I need to find a steady hand to work on such a limited canvas. Maybe Pampered Sundays will give me to opportunity to practice.

I worked for 2 hours tonight and got prepped for work and decided to throw some make up on to have a little fun. My go to is Victoria's Secret Wet/ Dry eye shadows. You know, the one's at the check out line? Love them. Charcoal eyeliner, extra mascara and bronzer. Last but not least a lip gloss that's a shade darker than I normally wear, just for a pop of color and another Fall tie-in.

My hair is long and can be unruly, so when I take a shower before work I like to do something with it since it takes forever to dry. Today was double half-french braids pulled back into a mid-height bun. Little bit of beer garden wench, little bit of ballerina.

Braided and swept up

Gorgeous Sunday night. Getting a little chilly, almost chili weather. While boyfriend was watching the game and bundled under the blankets, he was nice enough to take the old polish off my toe nails while my aubergine beauties were drying. What a sweetheart.

Happy Pampered Sundays!

Greetings and Introductions

Good morning and good night. I am officially part of the Bloggosphere! I'll take this post as my opportunity to introduce myself and give a little background on myself and this blog.

My name is Carly, I am 25 years old and living in a small town in Central Illinois. I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Hawaii. I grew up around beautiful beaches, exotic food, and frequent dinners with my family. Hawaii is home and a huge melting pot of several cultures and traditions, living harmoniously in paradise.
old home

Like many young people of my generation, I went to college, studied hard but had zero sense of direction. I switched from getting a degree in Fashion Merchandising to English and eventually received a BA in Communication with full intention of going into Journalism. After graduation I lost my lust for news reporting and was without a career path or clue of what I was going to do after school. Without direction, I moved to Champaign, IL in 2009 to live with my boyfriend, who is currently pursuing a PhD in Nuclear Physics at the University of Illinois.
new home and new dog

After moving to rural Illinois, I longed for everything I had back home; my family, my friends, the travel, the food, the culture, the diversity. Luckily, after moving to Illinois, I found something that could give me everything I had been missing and more.

In 2011 American Airlines' regional partner was gracious enough to employ me and I found my calling. My hunger for a variety foods, locations and my home was given to me on a silver platter.

For the last year I have been traveling around the country, soaking up every possible experience that I could outside of my comfort zone, especially the food. My obsession with food, cooking, history, fashion, architecture and travel has been my escape from the ordinary.

Therefore, I dedicate this blog to all the things that inspire me, the things that put a smile on my face and the experiences that I hope to never forget.
