Another day on the east coast, not a big deal. Only it is! I still can't believe we went to New York and Boston. It's like a dream, only with a lot more walking. Day two in Boston was very Red Sox Nation driven.
For those of you who have never met my mother, she lives and breathes Red Sox. She has more Red Sox memorabilia than she can count, she watches the games pitch by pitch on her computer and got a smart phone just so she can go to MLB.com to check the scores. #obsessed
The day started off with a morning drive to Yawkey way (again) and we proceeded to take the Fenway Park tour.

Stories are my favorite. Maybe that's why I would watch the History channel and Animal Planet with my Dad, the stories. Everything becomes clearer and more interesting with context. The only other ballpark tour I've been on was at Wrigley (with the same people) and it's always great to gain some insight to the history of the park and the team. Like the curse of the bambino, the red seat in the stands, the story of the Green Monster, etc, etc, etc. It all gives the space character and depth. After all the Red Sox aren't just an institution, they're part of American history.
Buying tickets for the game that night
Yes, we would return later that day for more Sox, but until then, we'll explore Boston by car.
Lunch: Lobster roll, lobster bisque and New England clam chowder
Had to get some Boston Creme Pie!

Before the game, we decided to get some nourishment. At the Prudential Center shopping mall, we found a Legal Seafoods. Apparently they're a big deal in Boston and was recommended by Mom's friend. Time for more chowdah!

On Thursday, May 23rd, the Boston Red Sox were playing against the Cleveland Indians. Though it wasn't a particularly great game, I'm happy we went for one big reason.
In 2004 the Boston Red Sox broke the curse of the bambino, the Sox's almost century long dry spell, by winning the World Series. The man who helped get this classic team win against their rivals the New York Yankees was Terry Francona, the current manager of the Cleveland Indians.
It's amazing how loyal this city is. Even though they had one of the most tragic sports stories in history, the people of Boston still stuck by their team. Apparently this was the first time Francona returned to Fenway since he was hired by the Indians. The stands roared with cheers and applause when Francona was on the jumbo-tron and when he stepped to the plate, showing that Boston still loved him for everything he did for them.
