Day two was full of walking, shopping, food and rain. Our first stop was Juniors again. We just couldn't resist the idea of a close restaurant with good food. Breakfast was simple and yummy.

Walking up and down streets in the rain never bothers me, especially when on vacation. A little rain can't deter me. As long as I have a comfy pair of shoes and an appropriate coat, I'm good. I don't know if my family is used to cold rain in May, since they got soaked.
As a child of Hawaii, I didn't understand seasons... at all. I knew that Winter had snow, Fall had leaves, Spring had flowers and I thought Summer started in May, because that's when school got out. So the idea of it being cold and rainy in May must have seemed baffling to my family.
On the roster: Fashion Avenue, 5th Avenue, Empire State building, Madison Square Garden, Macy's, and Eataly.

I have seen and heard about
Eataly before. It's been on TV and my cousins visited it when they were in the city. It's probably kind of sad, but this was the New York destination I was most excited about. It's a combination of market, artisans, restaurants and beer garden all in one. The closest thing I've ever experienced to it is
Shirokiya in Honolulu, except Italian instead of Japanese.

On the walk back to the hotel we noticed some gems on Fashion Avenue. Mostly the fashion schools and the little details about the fashion district.

For dinner we were feeling Italian.
Carmine's came highly recommended and it was right next to our hotel. The ambiance is very classic with the dim yellow lights and everything made out of wood and leather. It seemed like we were in the kind of establishment that important mobster decisions were made or where a group of Italian grandmothers were making handmade meatballs and pasta.

We spent the rest of the night in the hotel room. The weather wasn't really good for walking around and we had already done quite a bit of walking. We did watch the finale of The Celebrity Apprentice (on TV, haha) and Dad was nice enough to run down to the closest Walgreens to get us some Celebrity Apprentice ice cream. I did enjoy the Maple Macadamia Nut Mashup by Trace Atkins. YUM!
It was a foggy rest of the night and the gleaming lights of Broadway and Times Square emphasized the mist. The next day would be hot and sunny, a perfect day for Central Park.
